A groundbreaking partnership is set to revolutionize the shipping industry as Quadrise PLC, BTG Bioliquids, and Euthenia join forces to develop green marine fuels. This collaboration, announced on February 15, 2024, aims to commercialize bioMSARTM sustainable marine fuel in major bunker hubs and supply bioMSAR Zero by 2030, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
The tripartite agreement involves investigating the use of fast pyrolysis bio-oil as a renewable feedstock for Quadrise’s bioMSARTM solution. Euthenia will process biomass feedstock in Spain using BTL’s FPBO and fractionation technologies. The resulting pyrolytic bioMSAR will serve as a sustainable marine fuel, contributing to the decarbonization efforts of the global shipping industry.
The collaboration includes lab testing, diesel engine testing, and a commercial marine vessel trial. Quadrise PLC has already signed agreements with Cargill NV and MAC2 Solutions NV for the production of biofuels for marine vessel trials.
Quadrise plc (LON:QED) is an energy technology provider whose solutions enable production of cheaper, cleaner, simpler and safer alternatives to fuel oil and biofuels, proven in real world applications.
