Retail technology will improve overall shopping experience

According to research conducted by Shekel Scales at NRF 2023, the majority of consumers, 90%, believe that technology will greatly enhance their shopping experience. The survey, which was conducted using SurveyMonkey, gathered responses from 573 participants and focused on consumer perceptions and attitudes towards autonomous and frictionless shopping technology such as self-checkout, smart carts, and vending machines.

Of the respondents, 60% noted that technology that accelerates and simplifies the self-checkout process would significantly improve their shopping experience. Additionally, over 30% of respondents expressed a desire for technology that allows them to quickly and easily enter and exit the store.

The survey participants were mostly between the ages of 18-60 years old, with 45% being male and 55% being female. These results indicate that consumers are open to the integration of technology in the shopping experience, with a focus on convenience and efficiency.
