Supercar brake maker plans to create 70 jobs in city region

Supercar brake maker Surface Transforms plans to create 70 jobs in Knowsley after sealing a massive loan deal with Liverpool City Region Combined Authority.

Surface Transforms is one of only two companies of its kind in the world making ceramic brakes for high-performance vehicles and has worked with car manufacturers including Aston Martin and McLaren.

Now it has signed a £13.2m loan agreement with Liverpool City Region as part of a £44m investment programme to expand its Knowsley Industrial Estate factory, create jobs and create more opportunities for apprentices and graduates. It says the investment plan will see its potential capacity rise from £50m per year in 2024 to £150m per year in 2027, and will also lead to an annual decrease of 1,500 tonnes of CO2 emissions from 2026.

Surface Transforms plc (LON:SCE) is a manufacturer of next-generation carbon-ceramic brake discs for automotive and aircraft applications and has been certified to IS9001-2000 since 2008 and was certified to TS16949 automotive quality accreditation and AS9100C aerospace quality accreditation in 2015.
