Jubilee Metals Group has successfully started producing copper concentrate from the new front-end module at its Roan concentrator plant in Zambia. This concentrate will be further refined at the company’s Sable refinery, transforming it into copper cathode. This new production is in addition to the sulphide copper concentrate already being generated by the Roan mill-and-float circuit, which is currently available for trade.
The company has announced plans to steadily increase output from the front-end module throughout the third quarter of 2024. With these developments, Jubilee’s copper processing operations in Zambia now comprise the Roan mill-and-float circuit, the front-end module, and the Sable Refinery, which is undergoing upgrades. These upgrades aim to enhance the refinery’s processing capacity to over 25,000 tonnes per annum.
CEO Leon Coetzer expressed his enthusiasm, highlighting this achievement as a significant milestone in the company’s growth. He emphasised that the first upgraded concentrate from the new processing modules positions Jubilee to maximise its copper production capacity in Zambia. Coetzer also extended his gratitude to the team and stakeholders for their support in reaching this milestone.
Earlier in the month, Jubilee began operations at its Roan Upgrade project, which includes the newly constructed front-end section designed to improve processing capabilities. This enhancement increases Roan’s overall capacity to handle up to 13,000 tonnes of copper per annum.
This milestone marks a promising step forward for Jubilee Metals Group, as it continues to expand and enhance its copper production capabilities in Zambia.
