From office admin to finance rising star

Imagine transforming your career trajectory through dedicated support, meaningful responsibility, and tailored training opportunities. Annie’s journey with Hercules exemplifies just that—a vibrant example of how apprenticeships can redefine professional growth. Marking National Apprenticeship Week, we spotlight Annie’s inspiring career path, showcasing how Hercules fosters talent and empowers apprentices to flourish.

Initially embarking on a Level 2 apprenticeship elsewhere, Annie soon realised the programme wasn’t aligning with her ambitions. This turning point led her to join Hercules as an Office Administrator, a role intended as a temporary stepping stone during her career reflection period. Quickly recognising Annie’s financial acumen from her previous experience, Hercules proactively transitioned her into the Finance Department as an Accounts Assistant. Demonstrating their commitment to her career growth, Hercules further invested in Annie by enrolling her in the Assistant Accountant Level 3 apprenticeship programme, where she has thrived since September.

Working collaboratively with Hercules to design her apprenticeship pathway has been particularly rewarding for Annie. The company’s flexible approach allowed her to select a training provider and course most suited to her personal and professional objectives. With significant responsibilities already entrusted to her, Annie appreciates how Hercules empowers apprentices, providing ample opportunities to excel.

Annie particularly enjoys gaining insights into the role of management accountants and understanding how various financial functions interconnect. She values learning how her role in processing purchase ledgers significantly impacts her colleagues and contributes to the broader efficiency of the business. Uncovering the intricate details behind finance operations has fuelled her enthusiasm, highlighting the importance of her role in enhancing business processes.

Despite the excitement, Annie candidly acknowledges that the exams have posed the greatest challenge. Nevertheless, she remains determined, drawing support from the inclusive and understanding environment at Hercules.

Outside work, Annie thrives in social settings, frequently organising day trips with friends and indulging in gripping books, particularly enjoying compelling narratives and plot twists, such as those by CM Ewan. Her practical approach to workplace well-being is clear—she advocates open dialogue, advising colleagues not to keep stresses bottled up but to share their worries openly.

Looking forward, Annie is determined to complete her Level 4 AAT qualification, becoming part-qualified and exploring further advancement within finance. The future is bright and filled with possibilities, with Hercules continually supporting her every step.

Hercules specialises in providing tailored, high-quality apprenticeship opportunities, ensuring employees like Annie receive personalised guidance and robust professional development pathways, ultimately shaping skilled professionals who drive the business forward.
