Jubilee Metals has reported impressive growth across its South African and Zambian operations, highlighting advancements in efficiency and the quality of inputs. The company achieved a significant increase in chrome output during the quarter ending September 2023, producing 455,381 tons—an 8% improvement over the previous quarter. This growth was accompanied by a rise in platinum group metals (PGM) output, reaching 9,328 ounces for the same period.
The completion of two new chrome processing modules at the Thutse operations in South Africa marks a key development. These modules, currently in the commissioning phase, are expected to enhance production in the second half of FY2025. Jubilee anticipates that this addition may lead to a revision of its chrome production targets once the modules are fully operational.
In Zambia, the company has made notable progress in its copper production strategy, aiming for 1,800 tons of copper units by December 2024, increasing to 4,200 tons by June 2025. This would bring annual copper output to 6,000 tons by mid-2025. The successful commissioning and ramping up of the Roan and Munkoyo copper projects, despite challenges such as a power crisis, have set the stage for significant growth in Jubilee’s copper operations.
Jubilee has established two fully operational copper processing plants in Zambia at Roan and Sable, supported by the integration of the Munkoyo and Project G Open-Pit mines. These efforts have strengthened the company’s foundation for expanding its copper production capacity.
The company’s CEO, Leon Coetzer, expressed optimism, noting that key milestones have been achieved across both chrome and copper operations. While the chrome operations in South Africa have surpassed expectations, the capitalisation and integration of key assets in Zambia are nearing completion, setting the stage for sustainable growth.
Jubilee’s strategic approach in South Africa, which has driven its success in chrome and PGM production, is now being mirrored in Zambia. With its capital investment cycle nearly complete, Jubilee has implemented advanced processing infrastructure, including a newly commissioned Front-End module and an upgraded Flotation and Milling circuit at Roan. This progress positions the company to achieve its expanded copper production goals, reinforcing its growth trajectory across multiple sectors.
Jubilee Metals continues to build on its operational successes, delivering strong performance in chrome and PGM production in South Africa while laying a solid foundation for growth in Zambia’s copper sector. These developments, supported by ongoing efficiency improvements and infrastructure investments, highlight the company’s commitment to achieving its production goals and driving long-term value.
