Samsung Elec QLED challenged by patent dispute with Nanoco

Samsung Electronics Co. has been in uphill court battle with U.K.-based nanotechnology developer Nanoco Technologies Ltd. in the United States and may have to pay hefty royalty to sell TVs on its signature QLED technology if it loses the patent dispute.

According to research firm United Patents on Wednesday, the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) has recently ruled in favor of Nanoco in a patent invalidation trial raised by Samsung Electronics against the British company.

Nanoco Group PLC (LON:NANO) leads the world in the research, development and large-scale manufacture of heavy metal-free nanomaterials for use in displays, lighting, vertical farming, solar energy and bio-imaging.
