Tekmar Group has won a major contract to supply its cutting-edge cable protection system (CPS) for a UK offshore wind project. This £5 million deal highlights Tekmar’s expertise in safeguarding critical offshore assets while reinforcing its position in the renewable energy sector.
The company will design and deliver its advanced Generation 10 CPS, along with essential ancillaries such as cable hang-off clamps. This marks a significant milestone as Tekmar collaborates with this client for the first time within an Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation (EPCI) framework. CEO Richard Turner attributes this success to Tekmar’s unrivalled track record, engineering excellence, and customer-driven approach.
Project execution is set to begin immediately, with delivery scheduled for 2025. This contract aligns with the UK’s ambitious target of achieving 50 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030, including 5 GW from floating wind projects. In the latest Contract for Difference (CfD) round, the UK government awarded 5.3 GW of offshore wind capacity, demonstrating ongoing commitment to accelerating renewable energy deployment.
Additionally, new regulatory measures from the UK Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra) aim to reduce underwater noise during offshore wind farm construction. This initiative will facilitate faster project development, particularly in ecologically sensitive areas.
