Alphawave Semi is accelerating ahead in the multi-billion dollar interconnect race with its latest suite of high-performance optoelectronic solutions, now entering the sampling phase and aimed at redefining next-gen data transmission.
Alphawave Semi has begun sampling its complete portfolio of cutting-edge optoelectronic products designed for the rapidly expanding high-speed interconnect semiconductor sector, projected to exceed US$4 billion by 2028. This marks a strategic leap forward as the company targets the surging demand for faster, longer-reach connectivity across data centres and infrastructure.
The new product suite includes advanced digital signal processors (DSPs) tailored for both PAM4 and the emerging Coherent-lite modulation formats. These solutions are built upon Alphawave’s proprietary PAM4 SerDes technology, incorporating the innovative WidEye DSP architecture and EyeQ diagnostics to enhance signal integrity and performance monitoring.
The portfolio supports optical interconnects scaling up to 20 kilometres, covering 800G and 1.6T speeds through a mix of PAM4 and Coherent-lite technologies. Key offerings now sampling include: the Cu-Wave PAM4 DSP for Active Electrical Cables (AEC); the O-Wave PAM4 DSP optimised for optical retimers and gearbox transceivers; and the Co-Wave Coherent-lite DSP engineered for advanced optical transceiver modules.
According to Babak Samimi, SVP at Alphawave Semi, the company’s focus on PAM4 and Coherent-lite DSP investment was deliberate. The goal has been to create differentiated connectivity silicon leveraging Alphawave’s depth in high-speed SerDes, precision analogue design, systems-on-chip (SoC) integration, firmware expertise, signal integrity management, and sophisticated diagnostics capabilities.
Alphawave IP Group plc (LON:AWE) is a semiconductor IP company focused on providing DSP based, multi-standard connectivity Silicon IP solutions targeting both data processing in the Datacenter and data generation by IoT end devices.
