Hercules Construction Academy offers funded training for professional growth

Hercules Construction Academy provides a range of training programmes that are either partially or fully funded by the UK government. These initiatives are designed to ensure that individuals and businesses across the nation have equal access to high-quality education and skills development.

The academy offers various funding options tailored to meet the needs of different participants, including those who are employed, unemployed, self-employed, and small or medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). These programmes are designed to enhance the skills of both employers and learners, helping them achieve their professional goals and contribute to the success of their organisations.

For SMEs and self-employed companies based in Warwickshire, the Skills Escalator Fund offers up to £750 in training support per employee for up to five employees. This funding allows businesses to provide certificated courses for their employees to learn new skills or retrain in existing ones. Eligible businesses must be Warwickshire-based SMEs with fewer than 250 employees.

Additionally, Hercules Construction Academy, in partnership with City and Guilds Training Intertrain, offers Skills Bootcamps. These flexible, up-to-16-week courses focus on building sector-specific skills and providing fast-tracked opportunities for interviews with employers. These courses are free for learners, though large employers must co-fund 30% of the cost, and SMEs must co-fund 10%. The programmes are open to individuals aged 19 and above who reside in England.

Specific pathways covered by this funding include the Level 2 Construction Operative qualification, which requires learners to be employed and involves both mandatory and optional units that focus on key construction skills. Another pathway is the New Entrant Highways Streetwork Operative course, which combines theoretical and practical training to help candidates gain employment in the highways and civil engineering sectors.

Hercules Construction Academy also offers funding specifically for unemployed residents aged 16 and above in North Warwickshire. This funding aims to help individuals gain the necessary skills to work on construction sites, with programmes starting in August 2024. Some of the pathways available include General StreetWorks Operative, Delivery Access Management Operative, and Construction Plant Operative.

These funding opportunities are an excellent chance for individuals and businesses to upskill at a low cost or even for free, making them a valuable resource for professional growth.
