Alphawave IP recently published its trading and business update for the three months ending 30 June 2024. CEO Tony Phialis announced that for the third consecutive quarter, the company achieved over US$100 million in bookings. This period also marked a record for design wins, with 14 new designs. Phialis noted that the industry is rapidly adopting chiplet-based architectures, especially for critical AI and data centre applications.
He highlighted a significant design win with a hyperscaler utilising Alphawave’s 112G and UCIe-based solutions. There is strong interest in Alphawave’s portfolio of scalable, interchangeable, and customisable connectivity and compute chiplets, including Arm-based compute chiplets. By the end of Q2, Alphawave had seven designs leveraging advanced packaging and chiplet-based designs on advanced nodes, with most expected to enter production in 2025 and contribute to revenues thereafter.
Alphawave Semi’s first connectivity silicon products are on schedule, with initial shipments expected by the end of 2024. These first products will be sent to a leading hyperscaler, with potential aggregate sales exceeding US$300 million over several years. The company anticipates starting the initial production ramp in the second half of 2025.
