Alphawave Semi, a leading player in high-speed connectivity and compute silicon for global technology infrastructure, has announced the continuation of its collaboration with InnoLight Technology. InnoLight, a recognised leader in data centre and AI networking optics, is partnering with Alphawave Semi to demonstrate next-generation low power, low latency linear pluggable optics (LPO). This breakthrough technology operates at 128 Gbps per lane and highlights Alphawave Semi’s PCI Express 7.0 architecture ready SerDes PHY, working alongside InnoLight’s LPO OSFP optics. Together, these technologies are expected to provide critical infrastructure for both data centres and AI networks.
The increasing demand for larger, faster AI network nodes and disaggregation is pushing the need for even higher PCIe speeds. Alphawave Semi’s PCIe 7.0 subsystem, featuring its industry-leading SerDes PHY, combined with InnoLight’s top-tier LPO OSFP optics, is designed to meet the challenges of these evolving next-generation networks. The synergy between these two technologies promises to deliver impressive performance for data-intensive environments.
Osa Mok, Chief Marketing Officer at InnoLight, expressed satisfaction with the ongoing partnership. He emphasised how their collaboration is now showcasing 128Gbps PCIe 7.0 optical connectivity. By pairing InnoLight’s low-power, low-latency LPO optics with Alphawave Semi’s advanced PAM4 DSP physical layer technology, they are enabling cloud service providers to accelerate the development of critical AI data centre networks, pushing the boundaries of innovation in this space.
Tony Chan Carusone, Chief Technology Officer at Alphawave Semi, highlighted the significance of the partnership, seeing it as a pivotal moment in proving that PCIe 7.0 over optics is ready to support the demands of modern AI and data centre networks. He noted how both companies’ cultures of continuous innovation are evident, with InnoLight’s cutting-edge optical solutions and Alphawave Semi’s advanced DSP technology quickly evolving from PCIe 6.0 to PCIe 7.0 optical connectivity in just six months, a remarkable feat in technological advancement.
For those interested in seeing the technology in action, Alphawave Semi is offering a live demonstration at the ECOC Exhibit Hall. The demonstration will showcase the low-power, low-latency linear pluggable optics combined with Alphawave’s PCIe PHY, running at an impressive 128Gbps PCIe 7.0 lane rate.
