A former Nuneaton factory has been transformed into a £5.5m national construction skills academy. Today (January 31) sees the launch of the Hercules Construction Academy.
As we reported in our newsletter, the former Gibbs Technologies site on Avenue Road has become the construction training academy where future construction workers will hone their skills and learn the trade. In fact, it has been said that it will help provide workers for HS2, the planned AMP8 water sector infrastructure works, Highways England projects and proposed mega-projects like the Lower Thames Crossing.
The creation of the academy, which is one of the first of its kind in the country, has been backed by the government. Robert Halfon, Minister for Skills, Apprenticeships and Higher Education, said: “It’s fantastic to see key employers like Hercules offering gold standard T-Levels, alongside high-quality apprenticeships, and other qualifications. “
Hercules Site Services plc (LON:HERC) is a collaborative, innovative company delivering services of the highest standards within the Civil Engineering sector of the construction industry.
